We bet there’s no one in this world who don’t know who Keanu Reeves is. He’s played in almost 100 films and TV series. Some of them are broadcast on TV regularly and they’ve already become classics in the world of cinema (Speed, The Matrix, The Devil’s Advocate, and even John Wick.) But there are also works with Keanu that TV channels somehow don’t like even though they have an interesting plot, high ratings, and a lot of good reviews.

On September 2, this amazing actor celebrates his 55th birthday (yeah, we can’t believe it either). iBuzz has already shared Keanu’s biography with you, so today, for the actor’s 55th birthday, we’d like to tell you about some little-known movies that definitely deserve your attention.

Youngblood (1986)

The film tells us the story of a 17-year-old boy named Dean Youngblood, who wants to become a professional hockey player. But the world of this sport is too cruel for young Dean.

In this sports drama, young Keanu Reeves plays the hockey team goalie. The role is secondary, but this film became the first feature length movie in the actor’s career. By the way, Keanu got $3,000 for taking part in this film.

Babes in Toyland (1986)

In this film for children, Keanu Reeves plays one of the main roles, and Drew Barrymore is his colleague. According to the plot, 11-year-old Lisa finds herself in a world of toys and together with her new friends she tries to stop the wedding of young Mary and old Barnaby. Mary loves Jack, and Barnaby wants to take over Toyland. So the brave heroes turn to the Toymaster for help.

River’s Edge (1986)

This drama tells us about a group of teenagers, one of which has murdered his girlfriend and left her body on the river’s edge. The others have to choose whether they’re going to inform the police or keep silent and not betray their friend.

By the way, the plot of this film is based on actual events: 16-year-old Anthony Jacques Broussard strangled 14-year-old Marcy Conrad, left her body in bushes, and showed the body to his friends. They, in their turn, didn’t inform the police about the murder.

The Night Before (1988)

According to the plot of this comedy, Keanu’s character, high school student Winston, wakes up somewhere in the middle of the road. He has no idea how he got there and he has to find out what happened the night before.

Permanent Record (1988)

When David Sinclair, a popular and talented student, commits suicide, his best friend Chris (Keanu Reeves) takes on many of his responsibilities, thus, he faces all the troubles that David used to face. In general, this drama depicts the problem of suicide among teenagers and shows the reactions of their friends.

The Prince of Pennsylvania (1988)

Teenager Rupert Marshetta needs money to arrange his future life together with his beloved so he decides to kidnap his own father for a ransom. But no one cares about it and doesn’t want to pay the ransom.

By the way, this comedy was broadcast at the Cannes Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival.

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)

This light comedy consists of 2 parts. Reeves plays a blockhead there. In the first film, his friend and he travel in a time machine and transfer different historical figures in our time to write an essay with their help. In the second part, Bill and Ted fight against their android doppelgängers, which were sent from the future by Death.

Tune in Tomorrow… (1990)

Keanu Reeves’ character Martin works at a radio station that hosts a special guest, Pedro Carmichael (Peter Falk), a popular radio series writer. Every day, Pedro reads a part from his novel and the radio broadcasts break all their records. Then he adds Martin’s complicated relationship with aunt Julia, who he’s in love with and who’s not related by blood, to the plot. At first, neither Martin nor Julia realize they’re a part of the novel.

My Own Private Idaho (1991)

This adventure drama tells a story of 2 guys who have completely different destinies: Mike is a gay guy who suffers from narcolepsy and Scott is the son of the mayor of Portland. Together they try to find Mike’s mother. The film is pretty complicated and deep, with a psychedelic atmosphere.

Dracula (1992)

Young lawyer, Jonathan Harker (Reeves), goes to Transylvania to see Count Dracula who wants to buy a house in London. But he has no clue about Dracula’s real plans. Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, and Winona Ryder also play in this Francis Ford Coppola film.

Paul, a soldier, returns home from the war and meets a pregnant woman who has been dumped by her fiancé, which is the reason she doesn’t want to return home to her strict parents. Paul offers to pretend to be her fiancé, moves into her father’s house, and falls in love with her.

Feeling Minnesota (1996)

Former stripper, Freddie, marries Sam even though she loves his brother Jjaks. During her own wedding, she runs away with Jjaks, and this desperate step causes many consequences that turn out to be irreparable.

The Gift (2000)

Billy Bob Thornton was the screenwriter for this mysterious thriller. Keanu Reeves, Cate Blanchett, Giovanni Ribisi, Katie Holmes, and Hilary Swank took part in it. According to the plot, a woman with extrasensory perception helps police to investigate the murder of a young woman. It’s interesting because it’s one of the few films where Reeves plays a negative character.

The Bad Batch (2016)

This pretty provocative dystopia was presented at the Venice Film Festival. Then the film won a special jury prize. It tells the story of a young girl who tries to find herself in a new post-apocalyptic world. Besides Reeves, Jason Momoa and Jim Carrey also star in this movie.

To the Bone (2017)

This dramatic film had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival where it was a participant in the main competition. A girl suffering from anorexia meets Dr. Beckham who tries to save her using different methods.
